The AIA Las Vegas "Learn About" Product Show CE Classes are an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge of your profession and to get those CE credits to maintain your license in the state of Nevada.

  

The day begins with Check-in and Continental Breakfast at 7:30am with the first class beginning promptly at 8:00am.

The schedule is as follows:

 8:00am to 9:00am - "The Language of Light"  presented by Nevada Lighting.  1 CE/HSW

                                          Co-sponsored by Louis Poulsen Lighting, this course is a review of essential lighting terminology and a
                                          review of many different public space areas to demonstrate how to use the "Layers of Light" concept to
                                          enhance the architecture.

9:15am to 10:15am - "Going Curbless"  presented by Noble Company.  1 CE/HSW

                                       This course will provide a brief overview of the growing demand for curbelss showers, the difference between
                                       curbless and barrier-free, installation and design considerations, what is required to comply with ADA
                                       guidelines and how to meet plumbing and wet-area codes.

10:30am to 11:30am - "Managing Heat and Light Through Exterior Shading Systems"  presented by Draper, Inc.  1 CE/HSW

                                          This course will provide attendees with a clear understanding of the key aims of solar control, why exterior
                                          shading systems are the more effective way to deal with heat gain, the factors that influence the choice of
                                          shading system, the benefits of using exterior venetian blinds to control solar gain through vertical glazing
                                          and the benefits of using the rack arm system to control solar gain through skylights and sloped glazing.

11:30am to 12:15pm - Box Lunch Provided

 

12:15pm to 1:15pm - "Improving Facade Designs by Comparing Automated vs. Manual Solar Shading" 
                                     presented by Polar Shades  1 CE/HSW

                                     This course will provide an understanding of innovative design trends including current market drivers,
                                     comparing high performance glass vs. high performance shading and how to increase visual and thermal
                                     comfort by automating the balance of natural and artificial light. This course will build the connection between
                                     current design trends influence on building performance using automated facades. We will discuss design
                                     strategies using automated solar management and its impact on these design trends.

1:30pm to 2:30pm - "Innovation and Customization in Overhead Doors"  presented by SunStone Building Specialties.  1 CE/HSW

                                       Traditional overhead doors are limited in application.  Within outside-the-box technology, the door becomes a
                                       complement to  architectural design vs. a conflict.  The door becomes more than just a door.  Gain insight
                                       into various types and applications of customizable overhead doors.  Learn about important safety features
                                       and standards and how these doors can contribute to a sustainable project, including LEED certification.

2:45pm to 3:45pm - "Concrete Moisture and How It Impacts Floor Covering & Tile Installation for the A&D Community"

                                      presented by Custom Building Products  1 CE/HSW

                                      This program covers moisture related flooring problems and their causes, helps distinguish and understand
                                       moisture contributing factors in a concrete substrate, discusses moisture testing methods and utilization of
                                       test results, and shows preventative and corrective methods and materials.

The cost for AIA Las Vegas Members is $10.00 per class or (special rate) $50.00 for all 6

Non-Members are $15.00 per class or (special rate) $75.00 for all 6
