WMR DESIGN AWARDS OVERVIEW

The AIA Western Mountain Region Design Awards recognize achievements for a broad range of projects and is meant to elevate the conversation regarding excellent design in our six-state region.

Jury members review entries with a preference for projects that:

  • Have measurable/identifiable impact
  • Are well-designed
  • Are well presented (clear images, descriptions and supporting drawings)
  • Meet client goals while advancing the theory or practice of architecture

Projects may be Built or Unbuilt

Once you have completed your online entry form and payment, you will receive

1.      The Project Number for that Project

2.      A LINK to your private folder, where you will upload all images to YOUR folder.

Entry Requirements:

  • All entries, built or unbuilt, must be projects designed by current members in good standing of the AIA Western Mountain Region.
  • Projects may be located anywhere in the United States or abroad.
  • Unbuilt projects must be commissioned work with a completion date – including competition entries – and must clearly state the entity administering the completion or commissioning the work.
  • Projects that have previously won AIA Western Mountain Region awards in the Built category are not eligible for re-entry.  Projects that have previously won an award in the UNBUILT category, may resubmit in the BUILT category once that project has been Built and completed.
  • Please provide all of the required information on the Entry Form.  The Contact Information listed on the form MUST be that of a reliable point of contact and the person responsible for the entry.
  • Each entry will be judged on the success with which the project has met its individual requirements.
  • Entries are weighed individually, not in competition with each other.
  • Projects must exhibit design achievement, reflecting a strong sense of place, ecological stewardship, an social responsibility as well as formal, functional and technical requirements of the practice.  Preference will be given to projects that demonstrate impact as well as good design, technical advancement, outstanding skill in preservation or restoration, and other outstanding details that are worthy of merit.
